Despite the obvious, working out comes with some unexpected, yet beneficial perks. Of course, we all want to look good in a bathing suit… and have an ass of steel (I’m speaking for myself here), but that’s just a sliver of what you can get out of being consistent and intentional about working out. Allow me to enlighten you and introduce you to the mind-blowing benefits of fitness.
Improves Your Sex Life (I just hopped right in there, didn’t I)
Having sex requires some physical effort and it’s important that you are able to keep the party going for a while. Working out gives you the strength, endurance, agility, and confidence that allows you to turn good sex into GREAT sex! There are also proven benefits for both men and women, individually. In men, exercise can be a “little blue pill”. That’s right, it lowers the risk of erectile disfunction, which in return, increases your sexual activity and SATISFACTION. In women, it increases our DESIRE and ENHANCES our sex lives. Sounds like a win-win to me!
Makes you Happy
Working out can be hard, especially when we’re not in the best of moods. Lucky for us, exercising can help with that. During a workout, your body releases endorphins, which create feelings of happiness and joy. So, the next time you’re in a rut or you’re just “not feeling it”, get a 30-minute workout in, to turn that frown upside down.
Improves your Skin
I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. When we think of working out, we think of sweat. And when we think of sweat, we think clogged pores and acne. Yes, all of that is possible, if you’re not properly taking care of your skin. But if you are, exercise will have you out here looking like “30 is the new 20”. Exercise increases your heart rate, which promotes healthy blood circulation. Healthy blood circulation helps carry nutrients and oxygen to our skin, promotes collagen production, and helps with cell turnover. As an aesthetician, I can assure you that this is an anti-aging remedy you should try.
Inspires Creativity
When I decided to start this blog, I knew that I wanted to “get ahead” with my content. So, I came up with a number of blog posts that I wanted to have written before my launch date. You can only imagine the mental gymnastics I experienced. I would come up with an idea and then get stuck. I literally Googled “ways to inspire creativity” and viola, it was right there, EXERCISE. I furthered my search to “Exercise and Creativity” and BOOM, I found Dr. Wendy Suzuki. She’s a famous neuroscientist, who studied the effects of exercise on the creative parts of our brains. She discovered that exercise-induced changes in the brain, help us tap into our creativity by coming up with new ideas. So, you know what I did, got my butt up and went and worked out. So, the next time you want to get your creative justices flowing, go exercise. It works!
When it comes to working out, the "why" behind it can change from day-to-day. And whatever that "why" is, just know that fitness and exercise, can act as a remedy to whatever's missing. There's always something in it for you.
